About Project
Construction of Narmab Dam is one of the most important projects in the east of Golestan Province. This dam is aimed at flood controlling and runoff storing, developing and improving agricultural lands, supplying drinking and industrial water, regulating, balancing and providing water needs of downstream lands, proper use of groundwater resources and its integration with surface water and tourism development. In order to planning and further studies on construction of this dam, Regional Water Company of Golestan put it in its priorities to investigate qualitative status of the water resources and the catchment basin of the Narmab Dam, so that according to the results obtained, the Environmental Management Plan was completed and presented.
Actual services:
- Surveying and field investigation to explore land-use changes and sources of pollution
- Supplying field quality monitoring equipment for on-site measurement including portable multimeter, portable turbidity meter and sampling containers for stabilization and transferring samples in standard conditions
- Sampling for analysis of water quality parameters (physicochemical and contaminants) of Narmab, Khormaloo and Chehelchaider rivers at 10 stations
- Seasonal sampling from soil and sediment at 6 stations for two courses
- Providing an Environmental Management Plan aimed at improving environmental performance of dam construction, during construction and operation phases
- Providing solutions for managing water utilization in order to fulfill obligations for pollution decrease and continuous improvement of environmental resources
- Development of environmental control and monitoring program
- Reviewing of adverse impacts and methods for reducing them in two phases of construction and operation
- Proposing organizational structure for implementation of the program, training and public participation as well as the method of supervision and auditing on the project performance
- Water quality modelling using CE-Qual-W2 to predict the quality of reservoir in the future
- Investigation of ecological impacts and limnological changes in the study area
